‘Too many Italian chains’: Lincoln restaurant turns to tapas

Will you be going to check it out?

An independent family-owned Italian restaurant in the centre of Lincoln will transform into a tapas and cocktail bar with a new name next month.

Pomodoro E Basilico, which is located on Guildhall Street next to the William Foster pub, closed in May for a full refurbishment.

At the time the restaurant said it would re-open again late June to early July, but this has been delayed.

It isn’t just a refurbishment of the decor, as the restaurant will also change its style of food when it re-opens as Cicchetti in mid-July.

It will serve a mixture of Spanish, Greek and Italian tapas and there will also be a cocktail lounge.

Owner Saied Bakhshalian confirmed to The Lincolnite that there are a lot of Italian restaurants in Lincoln, so they wanted to try something different.

Pomodoro has two sister restaurants in the Bailgate area of Lincoln – Cafe Zoot and Tequilas.
