University opens blood donation clinic

Residents and students can ‘donate together and save lives’

The University of Lincoln has opened up one of its buildings as a blood donation clinic.

Currently Lincoln has just two community-based donation venues at Lincoln County Hospital and at The Showroom on Tritton Road.

Now the Engine Shed will start hosting blood and transplant sessions from April 2, 2020.

Grace Corn, from Lincoln Students’ Union, has pushed for the venue to be opened up once again for blood donations.

She said: “This is incredible, especially in terms of making civic responsibility accessible not only for our student members, but the local community too.

“I envisage local residents and students coming together to donate blood and save lives.”

The NHS needs nearly 400 new donors a day to keep up with the current demand.
