Bourne woman denies attempted murder

The victim was rushed to hospital with a stab wound

A 62-year-old woman denied a charge of attempted murder when she appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on Monday, July 1.

Susan Wheeler was charged following an incident in a village near Bourne in May.

Police were called to Obthorpe Lane, in Thurlby at 9.07pm on Wednesday, May 29, following a report that a man had received a stab wound.

He was taken to Peterborough City Hospital with a potentially life-threatening injury.

Wheeler, of The Causeway, Thurlby, was arrested in connection with the incident and subsequently charged.

She appeared at Lincoln Crown Court this morning and pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempting to murder Hugh Wheeler on 29 May, this year.

Wheeler also spoke to confirm her name, date of birth and nationality as British.

Judge Simon Hirst adjourned the case for a trial at Lincoln Crown Court on 3 February next year. It is expected to last three days.

Wheeler was granted conditional bail and will next appear at Lincoln Crown Court for a pre-trial hearing on 30 September.
