A dragon boat race and car rally will be among the event highlights this weekend in Lincoln as several schools break up for the summer holidays.
Lincoln Dragon Boat Challenge
The fourth annual Lincoln Dragon Boat Challenge organised by local solicitors Ringrose Law will return to the Brayford Waterfront at 12pm on Saturday, July 20 with 16 teams taking part.
Several hundred spectators are expected to watch as crews face the thirty foot brightly painted Chinese boats over a 200 metre course along the Brayford.

There will also be stalls and activities for families to get involved in, including a mobile climbing wall, at the event raising money for the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and Nomad, which is part of YMCA Lincolnshire.
Up to 200 vehicles from cars, motorcycles and small commercial vehicles, will be displayed in the grounds of the castle for this free event.
Dogs are welcome to visit this event as it is also a Dog-Friendly Day at the castle.

The castle is holding a dog friendly weekend from 10am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday, July 20-21.
Your dog can follow you on a journey back through history exploring the Medieval Wall Walk, Victorian Prison and the Magna Carta, but they must be kept on the lead at all times.
Dogs are allowed to enter the cinema space and the David PJ Ross Magna Cart building, but cannot be taken in the Vault.
The Giant five-acre Maize Maze not too far away in Grayingham, Gainsborough opens from Saturday.
It is open daily during the summer holidays from Saturday, July 20 and then every weekend until October half-term. The Maize Maze is open from 9.30am Monday to Saturday and 10am on Sundays, with the last entry at 4pm six days and 3pm on Sundays.
There are also Tractor & Trailer rides running daily during the summer, which are priced separately to the maze entry.

The weekend weather forecast for Lincoln doesn’t look too bad. Although there could be some light showers by lunchtime on Saturday, sunny intervals are also expected with temperatures rising up to 20 degrees celsius.
Sunday is expected to be sunny, but changing to cloudy by lunchtime, with temperatures as high as 23 degrees celsius later in the afternoon.

North Kesteven District Council unveiled its plans for the historic Handley Monument in Sleaford, with a view to improving the surrounding area and also lighting up the monument to attract more attention to its role in the town’s history.
