Man arrested after police officer assault

Police were at the incident for nearly three hours last night

A Grimsby man has been arrested after a police officer was assaulted on Wednesday night.

Humberside Police went to Rutland Street to reports of a man causing a disturbance at a property at around 9 pm.

Emergency services attended and police put a cordon in place around the area to keep people away.

The situation was brought to a safe conclusion at 11.50pm when the man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, assaulting an officer and common assault.

He remains in custody on Thursday morning.
