£20m affordable housing scheme set for Gainsborough

A total of 130 new affordable homes will be built

A total of 130 new affordable homes will be built in Gainsborough over a decade in a £20 million scheme.

Social housing provider Acis is looking to build an innovative mix of various affordable housing types from over 55 accommodation to family homes. It will be a mixed private and social housing scheme, which is subject to planning permission.

The homes will be built on a riverside setting on Bowling Green Road, in the town centre close to Mercer Wood and Riverside Walk.

The site is currently a brownfield site and is also in one of the areas designated as a Housing Zone.

West Lindsey District Council has been awarded £2.1 million by the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (GLLEP) to enable the development.

Councillor Giles McNeill, Leader of West Lindsey District Council, said: “I am delighted that Acis are looking to expanding their portfolio of homes in West Lindsey and making a substantial investment in social housing in our district. Not only in providing these new homes but in their wider plans to renew their stock across the district.

“We recognise that housing is key to the success of our communities as well as being of paramount importance to the quality of life, health and wellbeing of residents and I am pleased that developments like this are helping us to deliver the objectives of Homes England.”

Acis will be holding a public consultation event for the site at Gainsborough College on September 4 from 2pm to 7pm, with details to be announced in due course.
