Man in pants tasered by police on Lincoln street

The man quickly dropped to the floor when he was shot

A man who was only wearing underwear in the middle of the High Street was tasered by police.

The 27-year-old man appeared to be in distress and reportedly damaged a bus stop before going on to the roof of a car and shouting.

Officers approached the man just after 8pm on Wednesday, August 7 and asked him to go onto his knees.

He didn’t listen to their request and started to walk towards the police before they tasered him. The man quickly dropped to the floor.

Joe Cade was in a nearby pub when saw what was happening outside. He posted a video of the incident online where it has been seen 80,000 times.

The emergency services took the tasered man to Lincoln County Hospital before he was discharged and detained by police.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “We attended a report of a man on Lincoln High Street whose actions were causing concern.

“He had reportedly caused damage to a bus stop, had been sitting on a car roof shouting and was walking along the High Street wearing only underwear.

“Officers attended and during the man’s arrest for offences of criminal damage he was tasered.

“He was conveyed to Lincoln County Hospital. He was subsequently discharged and remains in custody while we carry out our enquiries.”
