Men named and charged after scrap outside Lincoln pub

They are due to appear in court

Two men have been named and charged after a fight broke out outside a Lincoln pub on Sunday night.

Thomas Dunning told The Lincolnite he saw punches thrown outside The Mailbox pub on Guildhall Street after 5pm on Sunday, August 4.

He said a fight spilled out into the road before a man was wrestled into the back of a police van by around six or seven officers. Three police cars and a two vans were spotted at the scene.

Police confirmed that John Stokes, 22, of St Mochtas Chase, Dublin and Martin Ward, 39, of Cornbrook Street, Old Trafford, Manchester, were charged with using threatening/abusive insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of violence.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “A group of men were being abusive towards staff at 5.10pm. Two men were arrested on suspicion of affray.

“Both are appearing before Lincoln Magistrates’ Court today (August 5).”
