Travellers illegally camped in Lincoln’s West End

The city council is investigating

The City of Lincoln Council is investigating travellers illegally camped in caravans in the West End of Lincoln.

Readers got in touch with The Lincolnite to report that around 10 caravans gained access to Whitton Park at some point after 3pm on Thursday, August 1.

It is alleged that they broke down a wooden fence on Long Leys Road to gain access to the park.

The council will carry out assessments of the site and the occupants before taking any formal action.

Becky Scott, Legal and Democratic Services Manager at City of Lincoln Council, said: “We have been made aware of an unauthorised encampment on Whitton Park in the West End of Lincoln.

“We are carrying out the required assessments of the site and its occupants before taking any formal action, and we will work within the protocol we have with Lincolnshire County Council and Lincolnshire Police to deal with the matter.”
