Drone footage shows extent of Louth fire

The cause is still under investigation

Drone footage has emerged of a large fire at a barn in Louth, which crews from Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue are continuing to keep under control on Monday afternoon and into the evening.

As previously reported, multiple fire crews attended and Legbourne Road was closed after the fire was reported to Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue shortly after 4pm on Sunday, September 15.

The fire is being allowed to burn out under control after around 200 cattle were evacuated.

Crews from Market Rasen, Skegness and Mablethorpe are still at the scene as of 4.50pm on Monday, September 16. They will be relieved at 7pm by just two crews – Spilsby and North Somercotes.

The fire at the barn containing 2000 tonnes of straw and diesel tanks is being allowed to burn out under control. The adjoining fields are stubble fields, so they are being ploughed to avoid any fire spread.

It is believed all the cattle are well and there were no human casualties either.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and is not known at the time of writing.

The incident resulted in leverage damage by fire to one barn, which measures around 20m x 20m and 25% of the adjoining barn (approximately 20m x 15m). Around 17,000 litres of diesel and 5000 tonnes of baled straw were also on fire.
