Funeral directors to expand into former Saxilby Post Office

The company says there is “increasing demand” for services

A Gainsborough funeral director firm wants to expand into a former Post Office in Saxilby due to increasing demand.

Saxilby Post Office’s High Street branch closed when the service moved to the nearby Lincolnshire Co-op food store after more than 50 years in the location.

Following the move, the building was used as a cafe, but that is due to close once the lease ends and the building is sold.

Plans for how the outside of the building could look.

Now, Gainsborough-based Bradley and Sons Funeral Directors has asked West Lindsey District Council for permission to change the use as the look to expand the business.

The company also wants to create a first floor residential apartment and an extension to link the main building with an existing car port.

The family-run Bradley and Sons has been providing funeral services for 55 years.

How the internal layout would be used.

Directors said it needs to open the Saxilby branch “to meet increasing demand in the local area” including that predicted for the new Lea Fields Crematorium due to open in January 2020.
