Lincoln’s first rum distillery brews up success

There are three different versions to try

A local lad has launched the city’s first and only rum distillery, with three different versions to try.

Sam Owen, 31, has launched the Unconventional Distillery Company which claims to have created something completely new.

The chef and dad of four has tinkered with the different flavours for the past few months now and thinks he’s got it just right.

Sam Owen has launched his own rum, which is brewed in Lincoln.

His three different rums go on sale in shops around Lincoln and Hykeham areas on Thursday, September 26 for around £30.

They will also host a special launch event at Lincoln Castle the same day with local band Vigilantes and circus performers.

  • Pioneer – a pink rum flavoured with elderflower, citrus, and pepper
  • Time Machine – they use technology to rapid age the rum into the equivalent of eight years in just six days before adding hints of caramel, vanilla, cream and almond
  • Original – the original spirit crafted in an unconventional way
  • A fourth version will also be launched soon

Sam has launched the rums with the idea that people should not follow the crowd and hopes to shake up the industry.
