Police are appealing for witnesses after what was believed to be an arson attack on the top floor of an abandoned house in Boston.

Passers-by took videos which showed black smoke, balls of fire and debris coming from the front-facing upstairs window at the empty property at 146 High Street. The fire was first spotted at around 4pm on Monday, September 2.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue sent four crews and extinguished the blaze with three hose reel hets, one main jet, breathing apparatus, ladders, and small tools.

They said that all of the first floor was severely damaged by the fire and 75% of the roof space was also severely damaged. There was moderate smoke damage to the rest of the building.

Police issued a witness appeal on Tuesday, September 10 asking for anyone who was in the area at the time or has dashcam footage to contact them on 101 or via email at [email protected] quoting reference 301 of September 2.

It can also be reported through the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online here.
