Road blocked after A157 crash in Lincolnshire village

Emergency services attended the scene

Emergency services rushed to the scene after another crash in a village near Louth on Wednesday, which has completely blocked the road.

Alford & Mablethorpe Police said at around 2.40pm that emergency services were dealing with a crash on the A157 at South Reston.

The crash involved two cars and the road is completely blocked, so police are advising motorists to use alternative routes if possible. Police also advised that the best route for HGVs is the A16.

According to AA Traffic, the road is closed and there is slow traffic due to the crash on the A157 both ways between Sturdy Hill and Scrub Lane. It is affecting traffic between North Reston and Withern.

A spokesperson for EMAS said: “We received a call at 13.54 today (Wednesday) to South Reston in Louth. The caller reported a road traffic collision involving two cars. We sent an ambulance and took one patient to the Diana Princess Of Wales Hospital in Grimsby.”

The extent of any injuries is not yet known at the time of writing.

Earlier in the day a man was seriously injured after a crash involving a lorry and a car at the Saltfleetby junction of the B1200 and Three Bridges Road.

He was the driver of the car and was taken to hospital. His injuries were not thought to be life threatening.
