Female jogger ‘bitten by dog’ in Horncastle

She suffered a leg injury

A female jogger was allegedly bitten by a dog and left with a “nasty” leg injury after she stopped to speak to a man in Horncastle.

Horncastle Police said the woman was running along the Spa Trail from 50 Acre towards the Horncastle swimming pool at around 10am on Saturday, January 4.

She is said to have encountered a man with his spaniel-type dog off the lead, who was swinging a walking stick with a red tip in his right hand and carrying what appeared to be a clear tub of bird seed in his left hand. She said hello to the man and the dog then bit her on the leg.

The woman spoke to two females with blonde hair shortly afterwards and told them what happened, and police would like to speak to the male dog owner and the women in relation to the incident.

The man is described as white, around 5ft 9-10″ tall, thin in build, aged around 60 and he walked with a pronounced limp, police said. He was wearing a hat and had a short dark browny grey beard.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact Lincolnshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 20000009240.
