Woman spat on and called “foreigner” in Spalding hate crime

A man spat on her and verbally abused her

A woman was allegedly verbally abused, spat on and called a “foreigner” by a man whilst doing the school run in a hate crime in Spalding.

The woman was on Saltern Drive in Spalding with her daughter at around 8.30am on Tuesday, January 21 when a man with a dog blocked her path. He spat at her and swore, referring to her as a “foreigner”.

Lincolnshire Police have confirmed they are treating it as a hate crime, saying: “Hate crime is rightly a high priority for us. Discrimination will not be tolerated in our communities for whatever reason.”

South Holland Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Rick Mosley said: “Everyone has the right to go about their daily business without fear of being abused for being who they are. If you have experienced or witnessed any similar behaviour we would like to hear from you.”

Police are urging witnesses any witnesses, or anyone who knows the man, to come forward. Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or via email at [email protected] quoting incident 92 of January 21.
