Explosives suspect still in custody after Lincoln flat raid

Bomb squads found what’s believed to be improvised explosives

A 49-year-old man remains in custody as police continue to investigate potential home-made explosive devices found during a raid at a Lincoln flat.

The area around a block of residential properties on Clasketgate was cordoned off by police on the afternoon of Thursday, February 13 and people inside the property were evacuated.

Bomb disposal and tactical support teams remained at the property during the afternoon, where suspicious items were found that could be “small improvised explosive devices”.

A masked officer from the bomb disposal unit was also seen running into the building.

A 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of making and possessing an explosive device. Police confirmed on Friday, February 14 that the man remains in custody.

At the time of publication, the man has not been charged.
