Lincolnshire braced for Storm Ciara winds

A yellow weather warning will be put in place

Lincolnshire could be battered by strong winds from Storm Ciara on Sunday after a yellow weather warning was put in place by the Met Office.

The warning will be in place from midnight until 11.59pm on Sunday, with Storm Ciara bringing very strong winds and potentially some disruption to travel throughout the day. Warnings are also in place for heavy rain in some areas of the country.

The Met Office has issued the following guidance for what to expect during this period:

  • Injuries and danger to life from flying debris are possible
  • Injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties
  • Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, could happen
  • Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible
  • Some roads and bridges may close
  • Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage

Lincoln and some other areas of the county were also affected by a yellow weather warning for fog on Friday, February 7, but that is due to be lifted at 10am.
