Grimsby child groomer jailed for sexual offences against young girl

He has now been sentenced

A 42-year-old man from Grimsby has been jailed for grooming a young girl with gifts before twice sexually assaulting her, including kissing her against her will.

Stephen Jagger, previously known as Stephen Hemingway, of Tasburgh Street in Grimsby, was jailed for four years and two months for two sexual assault incidents dating back to 2017.

The court heard Jagger had groomed the young girl by offering her gifts before kissing her against her will. He pleaded guilty to breaching a sexual harm prevention order, but denied two offences of sexually touching a child.

The case went to trail and he was found guilty and sentenced on Thursday, March 12.

Jim Carlisle, investigating officer at Humberside Police, said: “Jagger is a despicable man who targeted a vulnerable child for his own sexual gratification.

“He will now be spending a significant amount of time behind bars and I hope this offers some reassurance to the public that he is off the streets and cannot continue his offending.

“I want to praise the victim for her bravery and would like to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone else that has been a victim of a sexual offence to please get in touch with us.
