Plans resubmitted for Louth’s first McDonald’s

There will also be a new coffee shop on site

Plans have been resubmitted to the council showing more details of what would be Louth’s first McDonald’s.

Planning officers at East Lindsey District Council approved plans for a new McDonald’s drive-thru restaurant, as well as a coffee shop and 72 car parking spaces, in Louth in December 2019.

EG Group wants to build the new premises on land to the rear of the Shell Petrol Filling Station on Bolingbroke Road at the Fairfield Industrial Estate.

The operator of the coffee shop, which will also include a drive-thru, hasn’t been confirmed, but EG Group has been known to partner with Starbucks before.

A newer application was submitted this month, which has been amended to address matters to the site boundary. It included a location plan and a proposed site layout.

The entrance to the two business would come from a junction on Lincoln Way behind the petrol station.

The development would create around 85 full-time and part-time jobs.

After the original application, concerns were raised by local residents and businesses including the impact on cyclists and pedestrians, litter, the increase in Lincoln Way being used as an overnight “truckstop” and the environmental impact.
