Man wanted for prison recall in custody after fleeing Lincoln crash

He left the crash scene bleeding and limping

A man wanted for a recall to prison is in police custody after fleeing the scene of a crash on Skellingthorpe Road on Friday.

Lincolnshire Police were urgently trying to locate the young man, who they believed to be the driver of a car that collided with a van on Skellingthorpe Road just before 10am on Friday, July 10.

Police said at the time the man they were trying to find left the scene bleeding and limping and may have been seriously injured.

It was later confirmed that nobody was seriously injured, but the car was badly damaged and the van was flipped onto its side.

A 19-year-old man, believed to be the driver of the car, was later located and taken into custody on suspicion of a range of offences, including failing a roadside drugs test. He was arrested on suspicion on driving whilst unfit through drugs, driving whilst disqualified, failing to report an accident and theft of a motor vehicle.

Police said: “Response officers, Argentina team and the dog section deployed to Skellingthorpe this morning to locate a male who has left the scene of an RTC.

“He was located nearby and is now in custody on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, driving whilst disqualified, failing to stop at the scene of an RTC and failing a roadside drugs test.

“That’s before we even look at his recall to prison wanted marker. Luckily no-one has been seriously injured.”
