Man’s body recovered from water in Grimsby

Police treat death as unexplained

A man’s body was recovered from an area of water in Ainsley Park in Grimsby, prompting a police investigation.

Humberside Police were called shortly after 11.30am on Saturday, August 22 with reports of a person being seen in the water.

Emergency services attended the scene and the body of a man was recovered.

Enquiries began over the weekend to establish the circumstances of the man’s death, which is being treated as unexplained.

The man’s family were informed and are being supported by officers.

SIO Detective Inspector Al Curtis said: “I would like to thank the members of the public who have called with information so far, which has been helpful in our investigation.

“We are continuing our investigation in order to establish the circumstances and are still treating the death as unexplained at this time.

“I would urge anyone who was in the Ainslie Park area, near to the corner of Ainslie Street and Doughty Road on Saturday morning, and who has any information to contact 101 quoting log 285 of August 22 or contact the independent, confidential Crimestoppers number on 0800 555111.”
