Night-time closures for A46 Riseholme roundabout works

A week of works starting Thursday

Drivers in Lincoln will face seven night-time road closures at and near the A46 Riseholme roundabout, starting from Thursday, as work continues on the £4.2 million project.

The dates for the night-time closures, subject to suitable weather, are:

  • Thursday, August 13 and Friday, August 14 at the Riseholme Road roundabout junction. There will be a diversion route via A46/B1182 Nettleham Road/Longdales Road/B1226 Riseholme Road, or vice versa
  • Monday, August 24 to Friday, August 28 for five evenings at the roundabout’s A15 junction. There will be a diversion route via A46/A57/A156 to Marton/A1500/A15, or vice versa

The temporary 30mph speed limit and lane narrowing measures currently in place will also remain for the rest of the scheme.

The works first started earlier this year and the project was due to be finished in the summer, but a month-long shutdown in April delayed it and the completion date was pushed back to autumn 2020.

Councillor Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: “We’re now at the stage where it’s essential to close parts of Riseholme Roundabout so reconstruction and surfacing works can be carried out safely and efficiently.

“This will inevitably cause some disruption for people that regularly use this route and those that live nearby. However, the negative effects caused by closing sections of the roundabout during the day would be massive.

“I want to reassure everyone affected that we’ll be doing our absolute best to keep disruption, including noise, to a minimum. This project is continuing to progress really well and we’re still on track for the having the roundabout fully back open this autumn.”
