30 new coronavirus cases in Greater Lincolnshire on Monday

Test booking remains problematic

There were 30 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Greater Lincolnshire on Monday.

The government data published on Monday evening showed 24 new cases in Lincolnshire, six in North Lincolnshire and three in North East Lincolnshire.

It means there have been 225 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Greater Lincolnshire in a fortnight, 10% more than the whole month of August.

A shortage of testing capacity continues nationwide and in Lincolnshire, with many unable to book a test online.

Prior to the weekend, the government said the R number – the rate of infection – had risen to above one for the first time since March.

New “rule of six” measures began on Monday which include a ban on groups of more than six people, with some exceptions.

Nationally, cases increased by 2,621 to 371,125 cases over the weekend, while deaths increased by nine to 41,628.

There were no further hospital deaths confirmed for the Greater Lincolnshire regions in NHS figures or the government’s own tally, which also includes deaths outside of hospitals or outside the county.
