Plans for new Aldi off Tritton Road in Lincoln

And a drive-thru coffee shop too

Lincolnshire Co-op has submitted plans for a new Aldi supermarket, a drive-thru coffee shop and two retail units at the Moorland Centre retail park.

If plans submitted to City of Lincoln Council are approved, the former Downtown building off Tritton Road, which is owned by Co-op, would be demolished and replaced with new facilities. The area is currently fenced off.

The Aldi supermarket would be at the back of the site, near the current M&S Food Hall and would front onto a new 193-space car park, which would bring the number of spaces at the retail park to over 360. A new entrance to the Aldi car park would be created off Moorland Way.

The drive-thru coffee shop is planned for the front of the site, close to The Elite Fish & Chip Shop. Work on this part of the plan could begin in early 2021 subject to planning approval.

Two retail units, which would be next to the Aldi supermarket, are part of a second phase.

Agents Banks Long & Co, whose managing director is Tim Bradford, said: “This proposal aims to provide shoppers with more choice in that area of the city. It will also help the existing businesses at the Moorland Centre, giving people extra reasons to visit, helping to boost footfall.”
