Lincolnshire COVID pandemic hero wins UK Neighbour of the Year title

Well done Lynnette!

A clinically vulnerable Alford woman who helped the community from her hospital bed while she was battling COVID-19 has won the UK Neighbour of the Year award.

Lynnette Pryke, who set up Alford Hub at the start of the pandemic, has been described as “a force to be reckoned with” for her dedication to helping others, despite having previously suffered a stroke.

Mum of two Lynnette and her team of 142 volunteers have together delivered 3,000 prescriptions and spent 4,000 hours befriending others.

Lynnette, who was nominated for the award by her daughters, said: “It would have been very, very easy for me to do nothing but morally I knew I had to do something…. I’m so, so proud of all the volunteers.”
