Victim named as police continue North Lincolnshire murder investigation

A man who was found dead at a property in Wootton, North Lincolnshire, on Monday 12 September has been named by his family as 44-year-old Ian Staves.

The officer leading the murder investigation is Detective Chief Inspector Alan Curtis, who said: “Our thoughts are with Ian’s family at this very difficult time, and I can assure them that we will do everything in our power to bring the person or persons responsible for his death to justice.

“There will remain an increased police presence in and around Wootton as we continue to explore all lines of enquiries in connection with Ian’s death.

“I would like to reassure the community that we believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.

“I would appeal for anyone with information to come forward and talk to us. Information is out there, and I would ask for people to get in touch with us and tell us what they know. You can contact us on 101, quoting log 210 of 12 September. You can also contact us directly via the Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP).

“If they would rather not call the police for whatever reason, then I would ask them to instead call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Information provided to them can be given totally anonymously and there could be a reward for that information.

“I hope that our appeals will encourage people to provide intelligence and evidence to the investigation that will help bring Ian’s killer to justice.”
