Childcare costs are one of the biggest expenses facing many households, and these can become particularly difficult during the summer holidays.

Families without relatives to assist may face increased costs due to the need for childminders or holiday clubs, and also nurseries if they have any pre-school age children. The average cost of holiday childcare was £148 per week in 2022, according to impartial adviser MoneyHelper.
