Businesses and residents share dim view of Lincoln’s Christmas lights

The council invested over £140k in new lights this year

Lincoln’s festive spirit has been dampened this year, with many business owners and Christmas enthusiasts expressing their dismay at the city’s holiday decorations. Despite the City of Lincoln Council investing a hefty £140,000 in new city lighting, the results have left much to be desired.

The decorations, which began adorning the city last Tuesday, were set to illuminate the area from Newport Arch to St Mark’s Street, featuring a fairy-light display in Exchequergate Arch and a 16ft illuminated comet in City Square. However, the overall effect has been underwhelming for many residents, who expected a more festive and vibrant display to match the significant investment.
