The Nettleham & District Probus (Professional Business) Club, made up of retired professionals from Nettleham, Lincoln and surrounding villages, raised £541.70 during social events in 2014.
They presented Lincoln Area Dial-A-Ride with a cheque for the amount raised as their charity of the year.
Lincoln Area Dial-a-Ride is a charitable company that seeks to improve the quality of life and independence of those individuals that are disadvantaged through age or disability by providing specialist transport.
President of Nettleham & District Probus Club, Mr. Patrick McNeill, said: “I chose Lincoln Area Dial-A-Ride because of the important service they provide for the elderly and vulnerable members of our community to access specialist transport.
“I am pleased to be able to hand over a cheque to Lincoln Area Dial-a-Ride which will help them continue their important services.”
Chairman of Lincoln Area Dial-A-Ride, Mr. Brian West, received the cheque on behalf of the organisation. He said: “I am very grateful to the members and supporters of Nettleham and District Probus who, throughout the past year, have fundraised for us.
“We currently have around 800 user-members and will have conducted around eighteen thousand passenger journeys by the end of the year.
“We also supply wheelchairs and mobility scooters too. This donation is very much appreciated and very welcome.”
The organisation is supported by a number of local councils from county to parish level. West Lindsey District Councillor for Nettleham Giles McNeill, who represents the council on the Lincoln Area Dial-A-Ride board said: “Lincoln Area Dial-A-Ride is a credit to the city and Lincolnshire, highlighting just how the public, commercial and voluntary sectors can work together for the good of local residents. I am very proud to work alongside the team.
“We all know that local authorities are under financial pressure and any donation to this organisation is very much need and appreciated.”
