Locals sour over two-week-old dirty nappy dump

Just why? It’s a step too far for charitable Chris

A Lincoln man who has picked up litter from his local streets for the past ten years has kicked up a stink about the latest dump.

Chris Elkins likes to keep the streets near his home on the Monk Road area of the city clean, but a pile of dirty nappies was a step too far.

He found the dump on Laceby Street on October 7 and says he wouldn’t be able to dispose of them for hygiene reasons.

After two weeks of reporting the mess to the council, Chris has turned to The Lincolnite to try and get something done.

The Lincolnite contacted the City of Lincoln Council who admitted that the mess was “unacceptable.”

Francesca Bell, public protection, anti-social behaviour, and licensing service manager at City of Lincoln Council said:

“Fly-tipping of any kind is an anti-social act that can result in significant fines.

“However, fly-tipping soiled nappies is particularly offensive. The items have now been cleared away.

“We apologise for the delay in clearing this mess away. This is unacceptable and something we have already raised with our contractor.”

The council has asked anyone with any information to report it to their anti-social behaviour team on 01522 881188.
