Minion and panda lift lockdown spirits in Lincoln village

A panda and a minion out clapping for NHS staff and other key workers in a village near Lincoln.

Two young girls are putting smiles on people’s faces during lockdown, along with their father, by dressing up as a minion and a panda to raise money for the NHS.

Father-of-five Andy Fox, 37, has lived near Sturton by Stow for 15 years. He has been outside the front of his house every day since April 20 with two of his daughters Kali-Marie, 11, and Kelsie-Jay, 9, alternating the minion costume between them every hour.

They live near the main Ingham Road, between Stow and Ingham, and have been waving at passing cars and cyclists and raising money for the NHS in Lincolnshire with a collection bucket. An online donation page has also been set up and the family have so far raised around £170 – click here to make a donation.

Every Thursday evening at 8pm when it is time for the national clap for NHS and other key workers, Kelsie-Jay comes outside dressed as a panda to join the minion.

A video of the minion and panda clapping had nearly 4,000 views across six pages on Facebook.

Whilst Andy was speaking to The Lincolnite, one of his daughters was already outside in costume and waving to all the passing cars.

Andy said: “They wanted to put smiles on people’s faces due to the circumstances we are in. Initially we were going to do it for two days, but after the reaction and people still wanting to donate, we carried on.

“I am really happy and proud. The girls love it too. We would also like to say thank you to all the NHS staff and other key workers, keep up the hard work.”

Andy also currently volunteers for a charity called the Lincolnshire Community Assistance Team, who work through the Lincolnshire Resilience Forum to send out food parcels.
