Nomad Trust furniture project reaches out to community

Community project: A new initiative by The Nomad Trust will see both the homeless and local residents benefit.

A local charity has set up a new project which not only helps those in need, but also raises funds for other initiatives.

The Nomad Trust‘s Furniture Project is a scheme in which furniture donated by Lincoln residents will be given to previously homeless people setting up a new home.

Lincoln residents can join in by donating sufficient furniture, such as beds, sofas, wardrobes, etc., to the project’s base on Bargate.

However, according to the Trust’s Vice Chairman, Eddie Strengiel, the project is already a “victim of its own success”.

“Lincolnshire residents have been very generous providing The Furniture Project with items in good and excellent condition.

“But we now have more donated items than we can fit in our warehouse!”

Now, not only is the project using the furniture to help rehouse people, but will now also sell a number of the items to raise money for the Trust.

The money can then be used on other initiatives to help the county’s homeless.

The shop at number seven Bargate is open to the public on Mondays, Tuesday and Fridays between 10am and 3pm.
