A 90-year-old Chapel St Leonards woman has been burgled for the second time in less than a week.

The elderly woman, living on Sea Bank Road, had money and jewellery stolen from her house during the early hours of Saturday, August 20 and Wednesday, August 24.

A glass window was also smashed and an untidy search was made as the elderly lady slept.

Lincolnshire Police Chief Inspector Jim Tyner said: “Any burglary is distressing for the victim but to be a repeat victim within a matter of days is especially traumatic for a lady in her 90s.

It is a cowardly offender who would target such a vulnerable victim and I would urge anyone with information about who may be responsible for either incident to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the investigating officer, DC James Addison, by calling 101 and quoting incident number 29 of August 24.

Lincoln County Hospital’s neonatal unit has won a competition in exceptional care after being nominated by a former patient, who now works in the unit as a nurse.

Jenna Robinson, a staff nurse, nominated Lincoln Hospital neonatal unit in a competition to win Cuski positioning aids and mini boo comforters after they helped her nearly six years ago to deliver her baby, Ophelia, at just 26 weeks.

After giving birth to Ophelia, Jenna was so inspired that one year later she began nurse training and qualified in September 2015.

Several other families also experienced great care and nominated the unit, which won the competition alongside Chesterfield.

The mini boos will be used as comforters for babies on the unit, which are shown to make babies much happier and secure as they progress through certain milestones in their lives.

The positioning nests will provide an environment to contain and support the position of the baby to help facilitate normal physical development.

Rachel Wright, ward manager, said: “We have received our prize of five positioning nests and 10 mini boos that will be extremely useful for the development care of the babies we look after on the unit.

“We are really grateful to receive this and are overwhelmed that these families felt we deserved this nomination especially as it was a nationwide competition.”
