A local man has been arrested in connection with a £25,000 burglary at a Lincoln jewellers.

The 36-year-old man was in police custody surrounding the burglary which took place in a jewellers shop unit inside Morrisons supermarket off Triton Road on January 9.

It is believed the offender got into the premises through the roof. The man has since been released on bail pending further enquiries until March 2.

Police have arrested a 32-year-old local man in connection with two handbag thefts on the same night on January 16 in Lincoln.

The man was taken to Lincoln Police Station on Thursday morning on suspicion of robbing a 19-year-old woman outside Chicken Cottage on Wigford Way.

The same man is also being questioned in relation to the theft of a handbag from a 60-year-old woman in St Mary’s Street on the same night.
