YMCA Lincolnshire’s annual outdoor sleep event is set to return next month at Lincoln Cathedral.

The Sleep Easy campaign is organised every year to raise funds for homeless people who spend chilly nights out in the streets.

To raise funds, sponsored sleepers will be spending the night out in the open, replicating what it feels like to spend a night on the street.

Rough sleepers will meet at the Lincoln Cathedral at 7pm on Friday,  March 9.

People above the age of 16 can take a part in this event by paying a registration fee of £15.

To find out more or sign up, fundraisers can click or tap here.

Funds raised will be used to build a new Nomad Trust day centre in the city, which will cost £1.2 million.

Rachael Baxter, from The Nomad Trust, part of YMCA Lincolnshire, explained: “Our vision is to convert the current YMCA gym on St Rumbold’s Street into a new 24/7 centre, providing safe space where some of the most vulnerable people in the community can receive help and support.”

Last year, the charity managed to raise £20,000, and they are hoping to raise a higher amount this year.

The Nomad Trust has so far raised almost £300,000 on its JustGiving page for the Lincoln Centre.

Lincoln woke up to a snow covered city on Monday morning.

There are Met Office weather warnings in place for much of the week.

The snow gave people in Lincolnshire a great opportunity to take some wintery photos of the city.
