In a twist of bureaucratic finger-pointing, Lincoln MP Karl McCartney’s campaign for improved street lighting in the city has sparked a debate over responsibility between local councils.

Mr McCartney’s plea, driven by concerns from students and residents fearful of walking home in the dark, has led to a request to Lincolnshire County Council for enhanced overnight lighting — alternative (every other) street lights after midnight, instead of total darkness.

“We have lost a lot of lives, a lot of people, but the message doesn’t change — the occupation must end.” That is the message of a retired doctor in Lincoln, speaking at a Palestine cultural event at the city’s mosque after losing some 20 family members to the conflict in Gaza in just three months.

Residents of Lincoln were invited to gain “true understanding” of the situation in Gaza at a Palestinian culture event, where speakers included a former doctor in Lincoln who has lost more than 20 family members since October due to the Israel/Palestine conflict.
