There were no picket lines in Lincolnshire on Monday as junior doctors and consultants began a three-day joint walkout over a long-standing pay and working conditions dispute.

Strikes began at 7am on Monday and will run for three days until 7am on Thursday, with the NHS warning that this action could bring non-emergency care to a standstill, with the two groups representing some four fifths of the hospital workforce nationally.

One Lincoln student has said she’s worried about wasting her time and money as fresh strikes are announced for the first week of term.

The University and College Union (UCU) has announced five days of consecutive strike action over a long-running dispute surrounding pay and working conditions involving staff at 140 universities in the United Kingdom.

With train fares set to rise again next year, some passengers are left feeling frustrated by the cost compared to the level of service provided in Lincolnshire – while others have little to no complaints whatsoever.

The government has announced that regulated train fares in England will again rise from March 2024 – but will be below the 9% rate of the Retail Prices Index measure of inflation for July.
