New rheumatologist for city hospital

New consultant: Lincoln County hospital has employed a new joints specialist to expand treatment in the county.

Lincoln County Hospital has hired a new Consultant Rheumatologist in order to expand the field in the county.

Dr Jose James was recently employed by the hospital on a permanent basis, after working on an interim basis in the three county hospitals since 2008.

James is looking to expand the osteoporosis clinic as well as introduce musculoskeletal ultrasonography to the hospital.

He said: “I enjoy working for United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust and contributing to the strategic development of the rheumatology departments at Lincoln County Hospital.

“I have developed a good working relationship with my colleagues over the past two years and we work well together to provide a great level of care to people locally.

“I am pleased to have been made a permanent member of the rheumatology team.

“I hope to be involved in developments of various rheumatology services in the future,” he added.

James will also be training undergraduates and postgraduates in rheumatology as part of the curriculum.

He studied in India, before moving to the UK to work at a rheumatology tertiary referral centre in Wrightington.

From there he worked in the rheumatology department in Hull before Lincoln.
