The refreshments areas at Lincoln County Hospital will be improved, after United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust took on the service.
The three coffee areas in the main entrance, maternity and oncology will change hands from next month.
Volunteers currently running the areas will be given the choice of working alongside the Trust, so their roles can be further developed.
The Trust want to bring better customer experience and opening hours to the catering spots, as well as a more diverse choice of food, like other hospitals.
Hotel Services Manager at Lincoln County Hospital Wayne McIntosh said: “We will […] ensure that we more closely tailor the services we provide in the coffee shops to the needs of those who use them.”
“We will soon be reviewing our retail catering across the hospital site, looking at extending the opening hours of the outlets to better meet the needs of patients and visitors, to include weekends and later opening.”
Customer Care Manager Katy Marshall hopes the current volunteers will stay on with the Trust and help improve the services.
“One of the first things we are looking at it is the helpdesk that is currently run by the volunteers in the hospital’s Outpatients Department, and how we can develop that service so that it is open daily.”
