Fun fete on Lincoln’s Strait

Strait fete: A summer event will be happening along Lincoln’s Strait, in order to boost traffic to the businesses.

A family fun day will be held in one of Lincoln’s historic areas near Steep Hill next month.

Hosted by Lincoln’s new Traders’ Association BOTH, the summer fete style event will be held along the Strait on Saturday, August 27.

There will be a range of activities going on, as well as craft stalls, music, traditional entertainment and plenty of different foods to try.

The Strait is a small area near the city centre, running from the bottom of Steep Hill to the beginning of the High Street (by Yak Clothing).

Most of the businesses along the Strait are independent boutiques and eateries.

Dan Pounds, Chairman of the association said: “We’re very much a community here and we wanted to organise something that would reflect that.

“Lincoln is a great place to bring your family so what could be better than a family day?

“Everyone knows the High Street, and everyone knows the historic Bailgate area, but the bit in between, us and Steep Hill, sometimes seem to get forgotten about.”

The Traders’ Association nicknames itself BOTH (Bottom of the Hill) and formed to publicise the Strait area.

So far, the association has convinced Lincoln BIG to take down the boarding on an unused building in the street and replace it with a bright map of Lincoln.

According to BOTH, there have been numerous requests from around the county for stalls at the event.
