Four members of Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue are to undertake the “Race the Sun” challenge in September.

The team members include the Chief Fire Officer, Dave Ramscar, and Assistant Chief Fire Officer Mick Green as well as Temporary Crew Manager Gary Waite and Youth Engagement Officer Andy Payne.

The challenge will include cycling 50 miles, canoe down Lake Thirlmere and then finally climb Mount Hellvelyn all before the sun sets.

The team is aiming to raise £2000 for Action Medical Research which works to stop the suffering of babies and children caused by diseases and disabilities.

On July 31 the team will be turbo-cycling at Sainsbury’s on Tritton Road in preparation for their main challenge and to raise sponsorship money.

Donating at this event enters people into a draw to win a chance to visit Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue’s urban search and rescue training facility in Waddington.
