Co-op looks back at its history with book

Memory book: Lincolnshire Co-op will be releasing a book, looking back over its 150-year history.

After Lincolnshire Co-operative’s 150th birthday, the society will release a book detailing its 150 years of history in the county.

The book, titled 150 years of Lincolnshire Co-operative, will be available from September 12 and details the Co-op’s rich history in over 180 pages.

It’s also written by former Society director (for over 40 years) and local historian Alan Middleton.

He said: “What stands out is the dedication and passion of those early pioneers.

“For ordinary working people, joiners, bricklayers, plumbers and plasterers, their achievement is little short of astonishing.

“The book will appeal to anyone with an interest in Lincolnshire, social history, local history or co-operative history.”

The book will cost £15, and be available from all foodstores and homestores. Members of Lincolnshire Co-op will receive five times the dividend by purchasing.
