Programme helps Lincoln children get fitter

Healthier families: Lincolnshire Sports partnership a hosting a programme to help families get their kids fitter.

Children in Lincoln can now receive help to become more healthy and active with a 12-week programme, starting next month.

From January 9, families with children aged between 8 and 11 can take part in the Fit Kids course, aiming to help them get fitter, healthier and even lose weight.

The weight management sessions will show families how to eat healthier, as well as making it fun with plenty of games.

The programme started in 2009, and has since seen 500 families in the city benefit from its coaching, with lasting results.

While it is managed by Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, Fit Kids is funded by NHS Lincolnshire and the Health and Well being Fund.

Physical Activity Manager at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership Sarah Ferneyhough said: “Leading a healthy lifestyle is a difficult thing to do; especially when life is already so busy. These courses help families to get the right balance; fitting in regular physical activity and eating a healthy diet.

“The changes we see over 12 weeks are incredible; children gain confidence, get fitter and the whole family is encouraged to lead a healthier lifestyle.”

The sessions take place at Birchwood Leisure Centre (Monday and Wednesday) and Sincil Bank (every Wednesday) between 4pm and 5pm.

To book a place on the course, call Fiona Roche on 01522 873581 or 07826 905 418.
