Suspected arson at city centre food shop

Christmas fire: Police are investigating a suspicious blaze at a shop on St Mary’s Street.

— Update @ 12.30pm: St Mary’s Street is now open to traffic and pedestrians following a street clean-up at the scene.


Lincolnshire Police are investigating a possible arson attack after a shop on St Mary’s Street in Lincoln caught fire on Christmas Day.

Police and Fire & Rescue were called to Tasty Provisions at around 11:44pm on December 25.

No-one was injured in the blaze due to all surrounding premises being closed, and the fire was extinguished.

A man was spotted running away from the scene over the nearby railway footbridge by. The original caller described the man as wearing dark clothing and a cap.

The road will remain closed throughout the morning of December 26, while fire investigators and police crime scene officers establish the cause of the blaze.
