Traffic diversions as Station and Newark Road are resurfaced

Road works: Parts of Station Road and Newark Road will be resurfaced in February, leading to delays in the area.

Road works will take place in February at two busy roads in North Hykeham leading into Lincoln.

Station Road will be closed for the road to be patched, before being entirely resurfaced later this year, and a portion of Newark Road will also be resurfaced.

Station Road will be closed from 6pm on February 4 to February 6 at 6am, from 7am on February 12 to February 13 at 6am, and from 7am on February 19 to February 20 at 6am.

Traffic will be diverted via Doddington Road, Tritton Road and Newark Road.

Newark Road will be closed while it is resurfaced between Wetherby Crescent and Tritton Road (outside The Forum shopping centre).

The closures will be overnight from 7pm to 7am between February 15 and February 23, excluding the weekend.

Owing to heavy traffic, the road will also be relined and traffic sensors replaced, while The Forum shopping centre remains open as usual.

Alan Brown, area highways manager, said: “We will have diversions in place for motorists to follow throughout. Access to homes and businesses won’t be affected.

“We need to maintain the roads to keep them in a safe condition for motorists to use. We will do all we can to minimise disruption and complete the work as quickly and safely as possible to help keep people on the move.”
