Full closure of The Avenue as stage two of works begins

Road works: Second stage of The Avenue traffic light refurbishment will see the road closed both ways for a week.

The second stage of works to refurbish traffic lights on Newland and The Avenue in Lincoln will begin next week.

The Avenue will be closed fully in both directions between Monday, February 13 and Sunday evening, February 19.

This means the road will now open over the first weekend of the school half term. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses off West Parade.

Newland and Carholme Road remain open with some lane restrictions at times.

Newland will be closed from Orchard Street to Carholme Road between Saturday, February 18 until Sunday, February 19, to resurface the junctions.

Access to local businesses will be maintained where possible with access to the Horse & Groom pub available for customers over the weekend.

Access to businesses on Brayford Pool from Carholme Road will be diverted across the southern side to Wigford Way and Lucy Tower Street.

Tim Clark, principal engineer, said: “Local diversion routes will be in place throughout the closures and motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.”
