Discover a hidden talent at Learn to Play Day

Guitar hero: Shoppers in Lincoln will be given a taster of playing a musical instrument this month for free.

Sales advisor Chris West demonstrates his talents with an electric guitar.

As part of National Learn to Play Day, a Lincoln musical retailer is inviting shoppers to try out a variety of musical instruments.

The Musicroom on the High Street will help encourage people who have always wanted to try an instrument to play on Saturday, March 31.

As well as giving an instrument a go, the staff will be able to advise people where they can get lessons within the city.

A local guitar tutor, Johnny Milan, will also be on hand to teach people a couple of riffs, alongside Piano Yamaha demonstrator Richard Bower showcasing the fun in playing piano.

Manager Mark Harrison said: “The day, which has been organised in conjunction, with the charity Music for All, will offer people the chance to try a variety of instruments and it will be supported by music teachers.”

Lincoln BIG events and promotions manager Michael Armstrong said: “It is always good to see businesses offering shoppers an added dimension to their Saturday trip into the city and we hope this event is a real success.

“Musicroom is also hoping it can arrange to have a busker playing outside its shop on Learn to Play Day, to ensure as many passers-by as possible are reminded to pop in.”
