Lincoln youth organisation wins national award

Award winning: A Lincoln-based youth organisation has won a prestigious national award for its work across the county.

Less than a year since setting up Off The Bench, the Lincoln-based youth organisation has been recognised for its work across the county.

At the StreetGames Door Step Sports Clubs National Awards & Conference at Warwick University on March 26, OTB were awarded Best New Project 2012.

Off The Bench has grown to 22 full time staff, over 100 volunteers and hosts door step sports clubs, youth projects and youth buildings across Lincolnshire.

The organisation puts on various events and activities to keep the city’s youth off the streets, and are best known for the Ritz cinema restoration project.

Pete Genders, OTB CEO, said: “It’s a true testament to the young people who have shaped and developed our projects and are now working to deliver those projects to others.

“This is award is theirs, its solely down to the work of such a fantastic team at OTB and the wonderful partners agencies we work with that we have won this award.

“There is no way this could of happened without them,” he added.
