Man arrested over West Common sexual assault

Sexual assault: Police arrest and bail a man over an alleged sexual assault on Lincoln’s West Common.

Lincolnshire Police arrested and bailed a man following an alleged sexual assault on Lincoln’s West Common, and are now looking for witnesses.

The incident happened near the cricket pitch between 3pm and 4pm on Saturday, March 24, where a 43-year-old woman was walking her dogs.

She was approached by a man, who engaged in conversation with her for around an hour. During that time, a serious sexual assault allegedly occurred.

Police attended the scene and arrested a man in connection with the incident, who is currently on bail pending enquiries.

Police are appealing for anyone on the common at that time who may have seen suspicious or inappropriate behaviour to contact them.

Lincolnshire Police believe that due to the weather being good, there will have been a lot of people using the common at the time of the assault.

Anyone with information should contact the police on 1010 quoting incident number 431 of 24th March 2012, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
